Supplemental Youth Employment Training Program (SYETP)

KANA Tribal Support Services offer Alaska Native tribal members a variety of work training and vocational education opportunities.  We enable young people to explore the world of work and develop important mentor relationships with local businesspeople, we train adults to reenter the workforce with new skills and outlooks, provide a place to explore job opportunities, and help pay for vocational training, licensing and certifications. Here is the application to enter a new world of work and fulfillment

SYETP is designed to emphasize real-world labor expectations, increase awareness of services offered by local community-based organizations, and to provide opportunities for career instruction, financial literacy training, academic improvement, and social growth.

Supplemental Youth Employment Training Program (SYETP)

SYETP

The Supplemental Youth Employment Training Program provides practical work experience for Kodiak Island Alaska Native youth ages 14 to 24.

Young people placed in a successful match with a local business are added to KANA’s payroll for up to 150 hours, and are eligible for school credit in the Kodiak Island Borough School District.

SYETP offers young people a chance to experience real-world labor expectations, and provides opportunities for career instruction, financial literacy training, academic improvement, and social growth.

The aim is to build strong communities by providing youth with the experiences they need to enter adulthood.

KANA offers practical help for individuals to gain the training needed to enter today’s workforce. We help those who are unable to secure fulfilling employment due to lack of experience, education, or marketable skills.  Through guidance and counseling, training or education, and funding assistance, we help people get to work.

KANA’s Employment Center, at the Koniag Building at 194 Alimaq Drive on Near Island, is a place to search for jobs, create resumes, obtain information on colleges or trade schools as well as apply for scholarships and other needed services.

The Center is a quiet work space with an internet connection, laptop computers, a printer and other resources that can be used to search online for jobs, create resumes, complete job applications, access email accounts and get support from KANA case managers and staff.

To schedule time at the KANA Employment Center, please call KANA Employment, Training and Support Services at (907) 486-9879, or email a KANA case manager ETSS@kodiakhealthcare.org.
