Your Voice Matters
Annual Meeting is also an important opportunity for Beneficiaries to take part in the business of KANA.
This year, members will elect three Directors to the KANA Board and conduct other business properly brought before the membership.
One Director will be elected from each of the following chapters:
- Native Village of Afognak
- Native Village of Akhiok
- Native Village of Larsen Bay
Artwork With a Kodiak Connection
This year’s Annual Meeting artwork was created by Sugpiaq artist Cheryl Lacy, whose colorful work is inspired by Alaska, her Sugpiaq heritage, and the stories found in the natural world.
Cheryl has been creating art for as long as she can remember and founded Dancing Raven Designs in 2001. Her work ranges from painting and illustration to beadwork and found objects, often bringing Alaska’s animals to life with expressive faces and a little mischief.
For Cheryl, creating art is also part of learning where she comes from and sharing Alaska Native culture with others. We are honored to feature her work as KANA celebrates 60 years.
