Nancy Nelson
Nancy Nelson, daughter of the late Willis and Martha Nelson, spent her formative years in Afognak and Port Lions. With a big family background that includes two brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews, Nancy cherishes moments spent with loved ones. Her interests include crafting, beach-combing, fishing, reading, baking, and cooking.
Motivated by her passion for assisting others, Nancy pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a minor in Human Services while employed at KANA in the Vocational Rehabilitation Department. She subsequently joined the Native Village of Afognak, where she held roles managing the Youth Dig Afognak Camp and the Environmental Department. After a dedicated career, Nancy opted for early retirement and returned to Port Lions.
Nancy still remains active by serving on the boards of the Native Village of Port Lions, Kodiak Island Housing Authority, and has been an active member of the KANA Board for the past three years, representing KANA on the Rural Cap Board. Nancy has found the past three years serving the community of Kodiak Island working with fellow board members and KANA management staff very gratifying.
