World Breastfeeding Week

Did you know that babies who are breastfed for at least one year are half as likely to develop diabetes? And women can lower their risk of breast cancer while providing their babies with the perfect, immunity-building nutrition. It’s like free medicine! Studies show that moms who breastfeed miss 3–6 times less sick days than moms who formula-feed.

The Kodiak Area Native Association’s Women, Infants, and Children program (WIC), invites the entire community to join them for an afternoon social at the Mill Bay Health Clinic to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week. Enjoy snacks and refreshments, play games with other families, win fun prizes, and learn more parenting information from KANA staff.

Breastfeeding mothers, their babies, and expecting mothers are all invited to celebrate with KANA’s WIC team on Friday afternoon, July 28, from 1:00–3:00pm. The fun takes place at the Mill Bay Health Center at 2414 Mill Bay Road, at the corner of Benny Benson Drive. Information is available at
